Police and Public SafetyCandidate Selection:

Like most states, Wyoming and Colorado require pre-employment psychological evaluations of candidates for law enforcement employment. Our clinicians have been providing these evaluations since 2000, and have developed a comprehensive evaluation and report that is cost effective.

Employing a special online system (see OBIS sample) to gather information from candidates which will help provide information for our evaluation and support background investigations. Data is gathered to verify adequate intellectual capacities and academic skills, and personality traits which is then examined for suitability for law enforcement employment. Candidates are screened for psychological problems. Our examiners will provide an opinion regarding the likelihood that a candidate can safely perform the essential functions of a law enforcement position, based upon the domains identified by the California POST system, which include the following:

  • Adaptability and Flexibility
  • Assertiveness
  • Avoidance of Risk-Taking Behaviors
  • Conscientiousness and Dependability
  • Decision-Making and Judgment
  • Emotional Regulation and Stress Tolerance
  • Impulse Control and Attention to Safety
  • Integrity and Ethics
  • Social Competence
  • Teamwork
